Get more out of those green onions.
Save a little money and add a little more green to your garden by taking the bulbs of the bunches of green onions that you bought at the grocery store or market and replant them. You can plant them with your flowers outdoors, or put them in a little pot in your home if you don’t have a yard. Trim them when you need some green onion greens. Take them out when you need some green onion bulbs.
You can even cut them and freeze them for future use. I used to do this when I had too many. Use the frozen pieces when you are going to cook them. If you use them for garnish, they’ll be too wilted.
They are pretty hardy in North Carolina. Mine are surviving in the drought in clay soil with twice a week watering.
